Olazabal 'Honoured' To Assume European Reins For Royal Trophy

Bangkok (December 8): Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal has been appointed captain of the European Team for next month's third edition of the Royal Trophy, to be played between the continents of Europe and Asia.
Olazabal has been handed the reins for the contest that will take place from January 9-11 at the Amata Spring Country Club, while his compatriot Severiano Ballesteros continues his recuperation from surgery to remove a brin tumour.
Ballesteros led the Europeans to victory in the two previous editions of the competition and was already deeply involved in Europe’s preparations for the upcoming series of matches when he was admitted to the La Paz Hospital in Madrid on October 6 after briefly losing consciousness.

Shenzhen (December 4): Dr David Chu and Robert Trent Jones II were honoured at the Asia Pacific Golf Development Summit.
Dr Chu, the founder and chairman of Mission Hills Group, and legendary golf course architect Jones were the first recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Awards presented by EZ-Go and Jacobsen.
The honours were announced during a lavish gala banquet and awards show hosted by Nicklaus Design at the Mission Hills Golf Club's sprawling Convention Centre in Dongguan.

High-Powered Quartet Set Sights On Singapore Sling

Singapore (December 2): Tseng Yani, Suzann Pettersen, Cristie Kerr and Natalie Gulbis have confirmed their attendance for the second edition of the HSBC Women’s Champions.
The quartet pledged their support for the US$2 million event that will be held at Singapore's Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) from March 5-8.
While Pettersen, Kerr and Gulbis all played in this year's inaugural tournament, the 2009 event will mark Tseng's debut at TMCC.

Singapore (November 30): Colourful American Christina Kim marked her Lexus Cup debut by delivering the decisive half-point for Team International.
Kim held her nerve to finish all-square in her clash with Japan's Namika Omata - a performance that completed a 12½ - 11½ victory at the Singapore Island Country Club on Sunday.
Having lost the two previous encounters to Team Asia, victory was especially sweet for Annika Sorenstam, playing in her final LPGA-sanctioned event before retirement.

Omega Mission Hills World Cup: Scintillating Swedes On Top Of The World

Shenzhen (November 30): Robert Karlsson and Henrik Stenson produced a magnificent three-stroke victory for Sweden at the Omega Mission Hills World Cup after shooting a nine-under-par 63 in the final round foursomes on Sunday.
Four shots off the lead at the start of the day, the Swedes charged up the leaderboard with a stunning front nine of 31 in the alternate shot format to tie Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez and Pablo Larrazabal before racing home for Sweden’s second World Cup triumph with four more birdies giving them a winning total of 27-under-par 261.
The Spaniards settled for second place after returning a 70 while joint overnight leaders Australia, represented by Brendan Jones and Richard Green, finished equal third with Japan after a disappointing 76.
