Fear Disappears As Davies Rediscovers Winning Formula
15/02/09
Melbourne (February 15): Laura Davies, one of the all-time legends of women's golf, found the old feeling of fearlessness and some new emotions too as she won the Australian Open in Melbourne to claim one of the last remaining spots at next month's HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore.
The 45-year-old Englishwoman fired the best round of a blustery final day – a five-under-par 68 – at the Metropolitan Golf Club to finish on a seven-under-par total of 285.
Having started the day tied for eighth, Davies ran the whole gamut of emotions as she won by a shot from Tania Elosegui; but only after the Spaniard followed Davies' final-hole bogey with a double-bogey of her own on the 18th.

Look Out For Entertainer Tseng - The LPGA's Birdie Machine
11/02/09
Singapore (February 11): World number two Yani Tseng will unleash a new 'grip it and rip it' approach when she makes her debut in next month's HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore.
The 20-year-old from Chinese Taipei says the new approach, which can only enhance her reputation for being as entertaining to watch as John 'Wild Thing' Daly, has been suggested by her coaches Dave and Ron Stockton to prevent her from wearing herself down through her sophomore season on the LPGA.
"I'm going to try not to stand on the tee and worry about everything. You don't have to worry about everything ... you can just see what happens!" said Tseng, who blasted her way to the top of the women's game by making a Major – the McDonald's LPGA Championship – the first win of her LPGA career last June.

Mizuno Turns Up The Heat With 'Hot Metal' Treat
08/02/09
Singapore (February 8): Mizuno is set for an early 2009 heat-wave with its Hot Metal wood line-up hitting the shelves in mid-February. Officially launched during last week's PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, the MX-700 Series is a powerful wood line-up that will appeal to a wide range of players through its forgiving nature and high ball speeds.
All with confidence-inspiring geometry, the MX-700 Series stands out due to its use of new face materials, creating red hot ball speeds and distance across the line.
The MX-700 Hot Metal Driver takes the best traits of its predecessor - the MX-560 - such as a high penetrating ball flight and extreme moment of inertia (MOI) stability. It also adds sharper looks and a high energy Ti9 distance-busting face insert.

Marriage Won't End My Golfing Career, Says Asia-Bound Ochoa
06/02/09
Guadalajara, Mexico (February 6): The world's top female golfer, Lorena Ochoa, has pledged that her recently announced engagement won't lead to her quitting the sport.
Speaking from her home in Guadalajara during a publicity commitment for the US$2 million HSBC Women's Champions in Singapore, where she'll defend her title in the first week of March, the 27-year-old Mexican said her plans to marry AeroMexico CEO Andres Conesa in December will not mark the end of a career that has seen her dominate the LPGA over the past three years.
"I think I'm going to be playing golf for the next four or five years. I'm not going to retire any time soon. I promise that. He's very supportive and I promise ... I'm going to keep playing. I promise I'll be playing," said Ochoa, who has made no secret of her desire to start a family and who has also previously said that she would continue to play golf when she did so.
