'I Regret Transgressions With All Of My Heart', Says Woods

Thousand Oaks, California (December 3): In a sweeping statement on his website that touched on several aspects of the turmoil that has swirled for almost a week, Tiger Woods seemed to concede that taboid reports of his infidelity are true. But at the same time, Woods vehemently denied that domestic physical violence played any role in his now-infamous accident last Friday morning. “I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart,” Woods wrote. “I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves.” The statement was released on the same day that Us Weekly published a story in which a 24-year-old Los Angeles woman, Jaimee Grubbs, claims she has carried on a 31-month affair with the golf superstar – starting the week after the 2007 Masters and two months before Woods' wife, Elin, gave birth to their first child.

Injured Woods Opts To Remain Out Of The Limelight

Orlando (December 1): Golf Channel broke the story on Monday afternoon that Tiger Woods will not appear as scheduled this week at his own Chevron World Challenge, an event at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California, that benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. Woods' absence was confirmed shortly thereafter on his website. According to the Golf Channel report, Woods has been advised by doctors to stay home. If that's true, one has to wonder about just how seriously Woods was injured when his SUV hit a fire hydrant and a tree in the wee morning hours after Thanksgiving. (Or, as the sceptics prefer to speculate, when he was clobbered by his wife in a row over tabloid allegations of his infidelity).

Casio World Open: Oda Ensures Ishikawa Must Wait A Little Longer

Tokyo (November 29): The champagne remains on ice for Ryo Ishikawa after the Japanese teenager lost out to Koumei Oda in the 200 million yen (about US$2.2 million) Casio World Open. Bidding to become the youngest ever winner of the Japan Tour Money List, 18-year-old Ishikawa closed with a four-under-par 68 at the 7,300-yard Kochi Kuroshio Country Club course in Kochi Prefecture. But that was only good enough for second place on 18-under 270 as Oda fired a scintillating 65 to retain the title he won last year.
