COVER STORY: THE GLORY DAYS ARE OVER FOR THE PGA SHOW!
To understand why so many American golf companies are salivating over Asia, one needed only to stroll the roomy aisles of the 57th PGA Merchandise Show.The PGA Show, for years the place to see and be seen in the golf industry, is a shell of its former self. The floor plan at the Orange County Convention Center was reconfigured and less space in the mammoth facility was utilized for this years three-day extravaganza, which concluded January 30. Absent among exhibitors were two of the biggest names in the business, TaylorMade and Nike (although Nike was present at the outdoor Demo Day). Mainstays who did participate, such as Callaway, Titleist and Ping, did so with fewer personnel and more modest displays
